Fitness for Duty & Occupational Evaluations

I provide evaluation services for professionals, including healthcare providers, to assess how mental health and substance use concerns may be impacting functioning, safety, and readiness to work.

These evaluations are structured and focused on real-world functioning. They typically include clinical interview, review of available records, and collateral information when appropriate. The goal is to assess current functioning, level of risk, and to provide clear recommendations regarding treatment, monitoring, and conditions that may support safe return to practice and/or respond to other referral questions.

My background includes experience in psychological assessment, risk evaluation, and multidisciplinary threat assessment, as well as leadership roles involving oversight of clinical care and safety. I am expanding my practice in this area and have completed training in fitness-for-duty and forensic mental health evaluation, along with substance use assessment, including SBIRT and ASAM Criteria.

I approach this work in a straightforward and respectful way, with attention to objectivity, clarity, and appropriate boundaries. These services are evaluative in nature and do not involve ongoing treatment. Evaluations are conducted independently and are not intended to establish a therapeutic relationship. In some cases, evaluations are completed at the request of a referring provider, monitoring program, or licensing body and may involve appropriate release of information to those entities.
